Honouring Australian Writers

The Honouring Australian Writers series was launched by the NSW Writers’ Centre in 2014 to recognise writers of the past who have made a significant contribution to our literary culture and to help bring their work to a new generation of readers.

Novelist, short story writer and memoirist Henry Handel Richardson has been selected as the featured writer for 2016.

The inaugural featured writer in the Honouring series was novelist Thea Astley, a four-time winner of the Miles Franklin award. The second writer was novelist and poet Randolph Stow, winner of the Miles Franklin and Patrick White awards and known for the metaphysical and existential qualities of his writing. Both were major events held at the State Library of NSW.
