A welcoming group of writers, where feedback is given in a considerate and supportive manner to help produce the best book or short story possible. We aim to support and inspire each other with our writing goals. We celebrate each others achievements and generally have some nibblies at each meeting. This is a group for writer mums (and dads!) of small children who would love some networking and support from other stay-at-home author mums in the Sydney area. Group is open to published and unpublished fiction writers of all genres. Hoping to draw writers from the northern end of the Peninsula, Mona Vale to Palm Beach, but also happy to see others willing to travel here. Read an extract of your work aloud for praise, constructive comment and suggestions. Be willing to listen to others and engage with their work also. The meeting starts with a spontaneous writing prompt exercise. The group aims to provide helpful and positive encouragement and skill development. An eclectic group of aspiring authors of all levels of publishing experience, working in a wide range of genres. Biographical memoir, Sci Fi / Fantasy, poetic verse, and many more may be heard on any given night. Our members are as diverse as our work, with ages ranging from twenty-three to eighty-three. We aim to help each other develop our craft and reach our writing goals through honest feedback, incisive suggestions, and cups of tea. This group is open to anyone who is comfortable reading work aloud for an audience of receptive and supportive peers, followed by open robust discussion. Women Writers Network
Wednesdays weekly, 1:00-4:00pm; NSW Writers’ Centre
We are a combination of prose writers, poets, and playwrights. All at different levels of experience and expertise. All with the desire to become better at what we do. If you wish to read you’ll need to limit your prose to about 1000 words and have about 10 copies for us to edit as you read. Expect from eight to twelve women at any sitting and if all are reading it can be exhausting or impossible to achieve by 4pm. Unless there is great financial hardship, we all put in a gold coin each week. We welcome women writing in any genre at any stage, from just beginning to those who have been published and those struggling to be published. Many of us are a combination of both. The emphasis is on constructive feedback in a friendly, encouraging, but dedicated environment, fostering all stages of writing.

Writestuff
Wednesdays weekly, 3:00-4:30pm; NSW Writers’ Centre
We practice ‘raw’ or spontaneous writing. We each select one word and then we write in any genre for 30 minutes using those words. We then read our work aloud to the group members. Our aims are to practice our writing, develop our skills and confidence; to be encouraged by the constructive criticism of our peers; and to use the weekly experience as a brain sharpening exercise.
