Writing Groups

My writers’ group has proved to be a great motivational support to keep writing.

Writers’ Groups at the NSW Writers’ Centre

The NSW Writers’ Centre hosts over thirty active writers’ groups for writers of different interests and levels of experience. Writers’ groups are self-run. The Centre provides all groups with free meeting space, tea and coffee-making facilities as well as a listing on our website. All participants of groups meeting at the Centre must be current financial members of NSW Writers’ Centre.

Participants of writing groups should be courteous, constructive and respectful in their feedback. Convenors reserve the right to ask a member to leave if they are not a right fit for the group.

Join a Writers’ Group or start your own

If you are interested in getting involved with a writers’ group (either at the Centre or elsewhere) you can look through our list below to find others who share your interests.

If you are interested in convening your own writing group and would like to add your group to the database or put in a call out for fellow writers from your area, send us an email. You may also wish to download our How to Start a Writers’ Group resource sheet.

Each year we showcase our diverse range of writing groups at the Writers’ Group Open Night. The night is a great opportunity to meet some of our existing groups and to celebrate our writing community.
