This full day writing for theatre workshop sees participants work with playwright Vanessa Bates to create, write and develop their own monologue. The workshop will look generally at writing for theatre but hone in on the creation of character and voice. Vanessa will take you through several creative exercises to explore the magic of monologues. Her play The Magic Hour starring acclaimed actor Ursula Yovich is made up of a series of monologues based on fairy tales and part of the workshop will examine these monologues and look at how they were written and developed. This workshop is practical – come prepared to write, to read and to perform (a little!). Above all be prepared to enjoy yourself!
