In the current publishing climate, knowledge of how to market and grow an online author profile is essential. This seminar will cover practical applications for authors beginning to use social media and digital marketing to sell books.

Digital spaces have given authors unprecedented levels of access to potential readers – but reaching them requires understanding of the platforms and sound strategy. The seminar will outline options and teach the fundamentals of using them. It will be useful for all authors, but particularly digital, genre and self-published authors. Marketing skills covered will include:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Landing pages
  • Blog posts
  • Goodreads
  • Amazon Author Central
  • Instagram, Pinterest, Periscope & others

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understanding of current digital practices for authors
  2. Strategies for starting a social media profile and selling books
  3. An introduction to marketing strategies using social media
